     Lucille Fransen, age 100, of Sibley, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 20th at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Tim Nappe officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

     Lucille Elizabeth Fransen was born January 22, 1923 in Viola Township, Osceola County, Iowa, the daughter of Osebrand and Amelia (Buschenfeld) Ackerman. She was raised in Sibley, IA and attended Sibley Community Schools, where she graduated. 

     After her education she was united in marriage to George Fransen on June 21, 1941 in Pipestone, MN. The couple made their home in Sibley, IA and were blessed with two children, Karen and Kenneth. She worked at the Sibley Creamery for several years before working as a cook for the Sibley Community School. She worked 22 years full-time and 5 years part-time. Lucille’s husband, George of 46 years, died on December 9, 1987. After her retirement she stayed active as a volunteer at the area nursing homes, delivering Meals on Wheels and giving neighbors rides to church and appointments. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafting, gardening and canning.

     She is survived by her two granddaughters, Brenda (Paul) Como of Detroit Lakes, MN and Amy (Randy) Wirth of Frazee, MN; five great-grandchildren, Vanessa (Brent) Piekarski of Detroit Lakes, Mn, Travis (Brittany) Como of Clermont, FL, Caitlin (Brady) Breitenfeldt of Frazee, MN, Trevor Como of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Brittany Wirth of Frazee, MN; five great-great-grandchildren, Hailey, Trinity, Austin, Annabelle and Stetson; a sister-in-law, Ellen Ackerman of Spencer, IA; a son-in-law, Noel Schave of Richville, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Osebrand and Amelia Ackerman, her husband, George Fransen; daughter, Karen Schave; son, Ken Fransen; one grandson, Scott Schave; four brothers; one sister; and many other extended family.
