Lyle Kahl age 73 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his home in Rock Rapids.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, October 9, 2020 at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Reverend Dan Haggar officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 8th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are encouraged.
The family prefers memorials directed to any of the following organizations: Touch of Hope, First Reformed Church-Ken's Kids, Atlas, or BeecinFund.
Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Lyle Dixon Kahl was born July 6, 1947 to Norval and Marvyl (Koll) Kahl in Canton, South Dakota. He grew up in Inwood, Iowa and graduated from West Lyon High School in 1965. On June 2, 1965 Lyle was united in marriage to Rosalyn VerBurg in Inwood, Iowa. To this union six children were born. They spent most of their married life in Rock Rapids where they raised their children. For most of his life Lyle was a farmer, and in the past Lyle had worked at Rock Rapids Machine & Welding, Kern’s Electric, Campbell’s, Klaussen Excavating and most recently at ACE Hardware. He was always available to help others with projects. He enjoyed going on mission trips, working on restoration projects, attending the races at Rapid Speedway, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Holli Spitler of Sioux Falls, SD, Tracy (Eric) Arnold of Shawnee, KS, Michael (Marilyn) Kahl of Southington, CT, and Marcus (Kristi) Kahl of Rock Rapids, IA; six grandchildren, Bailey, Julia, Emily, Elise, Bethany, and Jasper; brother, Ronald (Judy) Kahl of Janesville, WS; sister, Marlene (Larry) Davis of Hudson, NE; along with many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Rosie; daughter, Dixie Boudreau-Kahl; infant son; and his parents.
