     Marcella Julius age 89 of Sibley, IA, formerly of Little Rock died Sunday, December 6, 2020 in her home at Heartwood Heights in Sibley.

     A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Pastor Chris Lemmon officiating. A live stream link will be available on Marcella’s obituary page on our website and video will be available to watch as a recording from that link for 60 days following the service.

     Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.

     Public visitation will be Tuesday, December 8th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and family will not be present.

     Marcella Mae Julius was born on April 9, 1931 in Ash Creek, MN, the daughter of George and Martha (Walter) Waltjer. She grew up in the area and attended country school there.

     On May 8, 1948, Marcella was united in marriage to George Julius. The couple made their home in Little Rock, IA and to this union four children were born, Douglas, Donna, David and Daryl. After forty-six years of marriage her husband George passed away in November of 1994. Marcella later married John “Jack” Hoffman on July 10, 1997.

     Marcella worked various places throughout her life such as Sibley Egg & Poultry, AMPI and she did some babysitting.

     She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA and volunteered with Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Marcella enjoyed going fishing with her husband and her kids in the early years. She loved anything with crafts, especially making blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marcella was also a very good cook.

     Marcella is survived by her four children, Douglas (Connie) Julius of Orange City, IA, Donna Julius (friend, Jerry Murphy) of Little Rock, IA, David (Vicki) Julius of Little Rock, IA and Daryl (Laura) Julius of Brookings, SD; nine grandchildren, Gina (Dan) Pekofske, Alissa (Brad) Holtz, Michael Julius, Chad (Danielle) Julius, Alan (Lacey) Julius, Ashley (Derek) Heronimus, Brent (Jodi) Julius, Breann Julius and Bonita Julius; ten great-grandchildren; two sibling, Shirley (Daryl) Schwarzkopf of Sibley, IA and Harley (Mavis) Waltjer of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Martha Waltjer; first husband, George Julius; second husband, John “Jack” Hoffman; brother, Vernon Waltjer; and sister, Dolores Wiertzema.
