Marcella "Sally" Klein

     Marcella “Sally” Klein age 88 of Sheldon, Iowa formerly of Ashton, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Cobble Creek Assisted Living in Sheldon.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton with Fr. Siby Punnoose, celebrating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Ashton.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

     Marcella (Sally) Rose Klein was born on April 8, 1934, in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Seitz) Hatting.  She grew up on a farm near Ashton and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

     On October 30, 1965, she was united in marriage to Edwin (Chuck) Klein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.  Following their marriage, they lived on a farm until they moved to Ashton in 1977.  Chuck passed away on July 26, 2004, after 39 years of marriage.

     Sally enjoyed the outdoors, baking and cooking, and liked visiting with the neighbor children.  She worked at Pete’s Café, Ashton Motel, and 25 years at the Cedar Cabin in Ashton.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, and American Legion Auxiliary. 

     She is survived by nieces and nephews; special nephew, Robert (Bob) Hatting; and friends. 

     She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck; her parents, Henry and Margaret; six brothers, Martin, Charles, Lawrence, Harold, Donald and infant brother, Henry; sisters, Bernadine Arning, Evelyn Schierholt, Margaret Eben; two step-sisters, Regina Muilenberg and Caroline Keninger.
