Margaret Doyle was born on August 3, 1935 at home in Herdland Township, Clay County, Iowa, the daughter of Allen and Hazel (Cole) Blessing. She grew up in the Dickens, IA area on a farm and graduated from Lake Center High School in 1953. Margaret and her twin sister Marie moved to Spencer, IA after graduation and enjoyed spending time in Okoboji on the weekends. It was there at the Roof Garden she met the love of her life and on March 2, 1957 she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” F. Doyle at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, IA. The couple lived in Spencer, IA from 1957 to 1962, when they moved to Sibley, IA. To this union four children were born: Timothy, Tamara, Todd and Trachelle. Margaret stayed home to raise her children and worked part time at several businesses in town, Tony & Mary’s Restaurant, Ben Franklin and Rupiper’s Hardware Store. Then Margaret found her career passion in the Osceola County Auditor’s Office. Margaret worked in county government until she suffered a career ending stroke in 2007. She continued to live in her home until moving to Heartwood Heights. She enjoyed making her apartment her own and meeting many new friends. She enjoyed her time at Heartwood Heights and was grateful for such a facility. On November 17, 1998, Margaret’s husband Jerry passed away after forty-one years of marriage. Margaret was an avid collector of Santa Claus items. She enjoyed them so much she kept them out all year long and decorated every corner of her apartment with Santa’s. Margaret enjoyed celebrating her birthday every year and loved to share her day with other residents of Heartwood Heights. And of course, her favorite party theme was celebrating Santa in August! Margaret also loved to read and enjoyed lots of different types of books but especially female detective stories. She was very loved and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley.

Margaret is survived by her four children: Timothy (Bunny) Doyle of Storm Lake, IA, Tamara (Jim) Tieck of Sioux City, IA, Todd (Amy) Doyle of Spencer, IA and Trachelle (John) Clarey of Orange City, IA; seven grandchildren: Erin Doyle of Council Bluffs, IA, Eric Doyle of Mitchell, SD, Charlie Doyle of Spencer, IA, Maggie Doyle of Milford, IA, Nick Doyle of Crystal Lake, IA, Joseph Clarey of Mason City, IA, and Thomas (Angel) Clarey of Forest City, IA; and five great-grandchildren: Rhett Clarey, Porter Clarey, Blakely Clarey, Heaven Peters and Kailee Ortiz; sister, Judith Blessing of Rochester, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
