Margaret “Maggie” Schwab, age 74 of Sheldon, formerly of George, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Sanford Sheldon Care Center in Sheldon, IA.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Zoar Presbyterian Church rural George, with Rev. Ken Eberline, officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery rural George.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Margaret Marie Schwab was born June 11, 1950, at Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Claus and Alma (Bowen) Klingenberg. She lived in George until she was 5 years old and then her family moved to a farm east of George. She attended Country School until the fifth grade and then George Community School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Robert Schwab at Fairmont, MN on July 25, 1970. The couple resided in Fairmont for most of the seventies, where they began and raised their family. Eventually they settled in George, IA. Margaret held a few part-time jobs but was a homemaker for her family, caring for her mother and raising her children. She was a member of Zoar Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, playing cards and board games, spending time with her grandchildren and decorating for Christmas. She and Robert enjoyed going to the Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA and going on fishing trips to Milaca, MN.
She is survived by her children, David (Kristie) Schwab of George, IA and Megan (Austin) Klein of Hospers, IA; grandchildren Gabriel, Walker, Alice, Charles, & Elenor Schwab also Lydia and Alexa Klein; her siblings, Lavanda (Madonna) Klingenberg of Armstrong, IA; Ivan (Lois) Klingenberg of Armstrong, IA; Arlen (Kim) Klingenberg of Garretson, SD; Thelma (Tim) Yager of Bigelow, MN; Brenda (Daryl) Van Ort of George, IA; Robert (Josie) Klingenberg of George, IA and brother-in-law, Arvid Colby Granada, MN.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Claus and Alma Klingenberg; infant brother, David; her infant child miscarriage; brothers, Willard and Douglas Klingenberg; sister, Sheryl Colby; brother-in-law, Jim Fettes; and granddaughter, Destiny Joy Schwab (infant child miscarriage).
