Margaret Mae Vust age 85, of Little Rock, Iowa died Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 24th at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA, with Rev. Bryan Anderson officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, August 23rd with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George.
Margaret Mae Vust was born October 13, 1935 at her parents’ home near Ashton, IA, the daughter of Herman and Frances (Arends) Heibult. She was raised on a family farm and attended country school. She graduated from George High School in 1954.
Margaret was united in marriage to Walter Vust on May 24, 1957 at Lyon County 1st Presbyterian Church, rural George, IA. They moved to a farm near Little Rock, IA and farmed and raised two children. After her children were raised, she worked at Lewis Drug in Rock Rapids, IA.
She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, active with the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, and helped with Bible School for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and quilting. Margaret was known for her exceptional seamstress ability. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She always had fresh cookies and a pot of tea available for her company. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries and always mailed a card.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Walter Vust of Little Rock, IA; two children, Marilyn (special friend, Darin Pottebaum of Lester, IA and Lyle (wife, Kari) Vust of Sheldon, IA; eight grandchildren, Dr. Kellie (husband, Jacob) Crowl, Nick (special friend, Mckayla Fredricks) Vust, Alex (wife, Ashley) Vust, Sam Vust, Alicia (special friend, Joel Norris) Ahrendt, Kaitlynn (husband, Jesse) Van Beek, Cody (wife, Ashley) Ahrendt and Landon Pottebaum; ten great-grandchildren, with one on the way, Harlo, Dylan and Prim Crowl, Paizley Vust, Zaylie Norris, Chanley, Kennedy, Hartley Ahrendt, Raelynn and Cora Van Beek; one brother, Franklin (wife, Margaret) Heibult of Sheldon, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Frances Heibult; two sisters, Florence Brunk and Jean Heibult; and an infant brother, Wilmer Heibult.
