Margene Peasley

      Margene Peasley age 66, of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, December 11, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

     Visitation will be Monday, December 14^th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester without the family present.

     Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are strongly encouraged during the visitation and funeral service.

     Margene Sue (Metzger) Peasley was born July 30, 1954, at Rock Rapids, the daughter of Jacob and Elsie (Dietrich) Metzger.  Margene attended country school and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1972.  She gave her life to the Lord and was baptized in November 1970 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester.  She appreciated her church family very much.  Margene continued her education in Sioux Falls, where she received training as an LPN.  She worked in Sioux Falls and in Oregon before she was married.  On December 18, 1977 she was united in marriage to David Peasley at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester.  She and David farmed for a short time in southern Iowa before moving back to the Rock Rapids area.  During her life she worked at several jobs in the nursing field, and they lived in Rock Rapids, Indiana, and Oregon.   In 2013, they moved back to Rock Rapids.  She enjoyed sharing her hospitality, especially having family and friends over for coffee and sharing something she made.  She loved spending time with others and especially with children.

     She is survived by her husband, David Peasley of Rock Rapids, IA; their daughter, Elizabeth Peasley of Salem, OR; her siblings, Eugene (Dolores) Metzger, Dale (Chris) Metzger, Eleanor Popkes, Barbara Reutter, William (Charlotte) Metzger, Marvin (Joleen) Metzger, all of Rock Rapids, IA; Jane (Wayne) Klotzle of Rittman, OH; step -sister Beth (Gary) Metzger and stepbrother, Donn (Joyce) Moser of Larchwood, IA; and brothers-in-law, Jim Moser of Beaver Creek, MN and Lloyd Massner of Sperry, IA.

     Margene was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Elsie; stepmother, Donna Metzger; infant sister, Eileen Metzger; sisters, Linda Moser and Mary Massner; and brothers-in-law, Edward Popkes and Alfred Reutter.
