     Margie L. Blochowitz age 88 of Sibley, IA died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

     A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley with Pastor Tim Nappe officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

     A time of visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Monday. 

     Margie Leona Blochowitz was born June 1, 1932 in White, South Dakota to George and Dorothy (Visker) Kruger. In her early years she was raised around the Tracy, Minnesota and Allendorf, Iowa area. On April 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Blochowitz in Tracy, Minnesota. They farmed south of Bigelow, Minnesota just northeast of Sibley. The farm is still family operated. Margie worked at Campbell’s Soup Company in Worthington MN and at Chase Bag Company in Sibley, where many coworkers also called her “MOM”.

     Margie enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crosswords, crocheting, and cross stitch. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday and Bible School for many years. She was also involved with the American Legion Auxillary in Bigelow MN. Family will hold fond memories of Margie taking them fishing along with their Grandma Kruger and cleaning chickens as a family. Also later she enjoyed having all the grandchildren come to visit. It was always home for all family and friends.

     She is survived by her husband Gilbert Sr.; son, Gilbert, Jr (Janell) Blochowitz of Black Creek, WI; daughters, Janice Grave of Sibley, IA and Vicki (Doug) Oldenkamp of Sheldon, IA; son, Mike (Dawn) Blochowitz of Sibley, IA; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Carolyn) Kruger of Spencer, IA and Butch (Barb) Kruger of Fulda, MN; 3 sister in-laws, many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

     Margie was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jason Bryngelson; great-granddaughter, Kaliegh Jones; son-in-law, Dick Grave; 3 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law.
