Marguerite Ella Bothof was born August 14, 1923 in Sibley, IA to William and Henrietta (Rosenboom) Bothof. While living on the farm, which is now considered the “highest point in Iowa,” she attended the Wilson #4 Country School (located north of Sibley). From there, she attended Little Rock School for several years, and then attended and graduated from Sheldon High School. After graduation she was employed at Hollanders 5-10-25 Cent Store, Grey Shop, and Wolff’s Department Store as the buyer for Ladies Ready-to-Wear. In 1961, Marguerite came to Sibley and opened Marguerite’s Ltd. After 31 years in business, she sold the business to her niece, Amy Van Marel, and retired in Sibley.

Marguerite’s Ltd. was her pride and joy! She loved her customers as they were her inspiration. Sibley was very important to Marguerite. As such, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chamber of Commerce, P.E.O., and Historical Society. She served on various committees and boards within her memberships, including the Osceola Community Hospital Board and Country View Manor Board.

Marguerite enjoyed her family & friends, customers, gardening & birds, retirement & traveling, and volunteering.

She is survived by her sisters, Pauline Muller of Spencer, IA and Idelle (Don) Mastbergen of Sheldon, IA; brother-in-law, Wilferd Kooiker of Sheldon, IA; numerous nieces & nephews, and other extended family members.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, William and Henrietta Bothof; sisters, Harriet Bothof, Martha (Henry) Kruse, Carol (Derwood) Getting, and Dorothy Kooiker; and brother-in-law, George Muller.
