Marian Riemersma age 97 of George, Iowa died on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in George.
Family and friends will gather at the Jurrens Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19th. There will be a prayer at 10:00 a.m. and then we will travel in procession to the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery for burial.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, with Pastor Ken Eberline officiating.
Marian Johanna Helen Stueven Riemersma was born April 14, 1927, in Hull Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Wilhelmina (Luitjens) Stueven. She lived with her parents on a farm near Matlock, Iowa. She attended school at Frank #4 through the eighth grade. She then helped her parents on the family farm. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church and later became a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where she still enjoyed attending with her friends the late Grumpy and Judy Groen.
On May 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Cornie Riemersma in Worthington, MN. They lived in Matlock, Boyden, and George. They farmed until moving to George in 1960. This is where Marian raised her family and later enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Marian enjoyed embroidery work, gardening, flowers, reading, and visiting with friends. She was always very grateful for the help she received from the ladies at the George Library. Her family and friends were very important to her and she always enjoyed visiting with them.
Marian is survived by her son, Norm (Vicki) Riemersma, and daughter, Carol (Byron) Krull all of George, IA; four grandchildren, Melissa (Derek) Storm, Brady Riemersma, Kim (Todd) Dykstra, and Kris (Lexy) Krull; eight great-grandchildren, Cole Riemersma, Mya and Tori Storm, Addy and Ryker Riemersma, Avery Dykstra, and Benji and Theo Krull; two great-great-grandchildren, Jackson and Maisyn Riemersma; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by Cornie, her husband of 53 years; her parents; one brother, Arthur Stueven; and one sister, Aileen Boone.
