Mariann Lucille Moser, daughter of John and Rose (Kellenberger) Moser, was born July 13, 1920 near Lester, IA. She was the second living child, born to what would be a total of 13 children. She received her formal education at Larchwood Township #2. She started school when she was 4 years old and graduated from the 8th grade at the age of 12. She worked for various women helping keep house before being married. She was also recognized for the many haircuts she gave to boys and men, with her little brothers being her first "customers". Mariann was a strong woman of faith and chose throughout her lifetime the Apostolic Christian Church as her church home. On Sept 24, 1940 Mariann was united in marriage to Elmer Metzger and lived 3 1/2 miles north of Lester. In 1948 they moved to the family homestead 3 miles North and 1 mile East of Larchwood. There they raised 6 children James, Gary, Ray, Don, Marlys and Arlyn. During her time on the farm she worked hard raising her children and helping out doing the various chores. At planting and harvest time she was often the sole person responsible for doing the milking. Mariann was known throughout her life for having a fantastic memory that she would occasionally use to keep Elmer in line. In 1976, Elmer and Mariann built a new house ½ mile east of the homestead where they lived until they retired to Lester in 1992. They lived in that residence until moving, at separate intervals, to the Tuff Home in Hills, MN. Elmer and Mariann were separated here on earth when Elmer passed away Sept 11, 2015. Mariann however remained determined to reach her goal age of 100 which she did this past July, it was a great blessing to celebrate this accomplishment with her. However, on October 18, 2020 she was peacefully called home to Heaven.

Mariann is survived by her 5 sons, James (Lois) Metzger, Hills, Minnesota, Gary(Beth)Metzger, Larchwood, IA, Ray (Kathy) Metzger, Brandon, SD, Don (Pat) Metzger, Hills, MN and Arlyn Metzger, Larchwood, IA and one son-in-law Lynn "Butch" (Kathy) Doorneweerd, Lester, IA. Also surviving are 3 of Mariann's sisters and 1 brother, Estelle Leuthold, Evelyn (Roy) Metzger, Janet Wysong and Franklin Moser. Additional surviving in-laws include Andy Mogler, Carl and Lydiann Wyss, Pearline Streitmatter, and Russell Wuthrich. Mariann considered herself blessed to also have 21surving grandchildren and 42 surviving great-grandchildren.

Mariann was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, her daughter Marlys Doornewerd, Daughter-in-Law Nancy Metzger, grandson James Metzger, Jr. and great-granddaughter, Kaylon Metzger.

She was a truly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and member of her community. She will be forever remembered and missed.
