     Marie Brown age 79 of Hills, MN died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. 

     A Private Graveside Memorial Service for family will take place on Saturday, June 18^th at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Hills, MN with Pastor Juanita Parker officiating.

     Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of services.

     Pearl “Marie” Brown was born February 4, 1943, in Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of William Richard and Pearl Eldora (Sogge) Hiney. She grew up in Valley Springs, South Dakota and attended Valley High School.

     On June 16, 1961, Marie was united in marriage to Darrell Dean Brown at Valley Springs Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, SD.  They were blessed with three children, Darrell W., Michelle, and Sandra. The couple lived in Valley Springs, Sioux Falls, and made their long-term home in Hills, MN. During this time Marie worked at K-Products in Rock Rapids, IA, Tuff Memorial Home and lastly, she worked as custodian for the Hills Beaver Creek High School, retiring after 26 years.

     Marie was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, active with the Ladies Circle and was active with the Hills Extension Ladies Club. Marie enjoyed square dancing in her earlier years with her husband. Marie also enjoyed crocheting, caring for her flowers, house plants and feeding the birds.

     Marie is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cherished family gathering and preparing meals. Marie had a kind heart, strong values and couldn’t wait to celebrate her and Darrell’s 61st anniversary together in Heaven.

     Marie is survived by her three children, Darrell W. (Cindy) Brown of Sioux Falls, SD, Shelly (Vince) Swenson of Luverne, MN and Sandra Brown of Mankato, MN; four grandchildren, Casey (Lindsey) Swenson of Brandon, SD, Katie (Jesse) Petersen of Luverne, MN, Camio (Chris) Kolhoff of Sioux Falls, SD and Cody (Lexi) Kelly of Sioux Falls, SD; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wayne Ward of Hills, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 ½ years, Darrell D. Brown; her parents, William and Pearl Hiney; siblings, Richard “Dick” Hiney, Janice Ward and William “Bill” Hiney.
