Marilyn (Maurer) Ripperda, age 79, of Worthington, MN died December 26, 2021 in Rochester, MN, after a brief illness.
Visitation will take place Friday, December 31, 2021 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Larchwood, Iowa. A prayer service will be held following the visitation. Burial will take place following the prayer service at Hillside Cemetery in Lester, Iowa.
Marilyn was born January 2, 1942 to Herman and Eleanor (Berg) Maurer and grew up on the family farm near Alvord, IA. She graduated from West Lyon High School and continued her education in Des Moines, IA.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Larry Ripperda at Calvary Lutheran Church, Lester, IA on March 19, 1961. They moved from Rock Rapids, IA to Worthington, MN where they raised their family.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her family for her exceptional creative talents ranging from quilting and sewing to playing piano, organ, accordian, guitar and singing. She also enjoyed oil painting and lace crochet. Her collection of Hazel Atlas strawberry jam jars will be treasured by her family. Marilyn had an inspiring way of teaching life lessons, greeting strangers and extending kindness. Often times there were extra plates at the holiday table for friends and neighbors she wanted to include in the celebrations. Marilyn always looked forward to planning vacations and traveling the country with her family. The Colorado Rocky Mountains was a favorite destination of hers along with the Black Hills and Washington, D.C.
Marilyn is survived by daughter, Laurie (Ron) Jacobs and their children and grandchildren, Kyla (Parker) Berg, Kane and Moxen; Matthew Jacobs (Sara Pischke), Payten Jacobs and Dalton Pischke; daughter, Linda (Doug) Handel; son, Mark Ripperda. She is also survived by siblings, Karon (Denny) Kramer, Paul Maurer, Alan (Norma) Maurer, Jerry (Barb) Maurer and sisters in law, Donna M. Maurer and Donna L. Maurer; along with many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Harlan Maurer, Gene Maurer, Robert Maurer, Roger Maurer and sister in law Mavis Maurer.
Marilyn never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandkids and great grandkids as they were the lights of her life.
The family would like to remember Michelle M. for graciously helping to care for mom the last few years along with friends and neighbors, Steve and Barb S. and Randy and Teri R. She spoke often of all of you and how much she appreciated you. We thank you!
