     Marjorie Ann (Sehr) McCarty, age 82, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at Sanford’s Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after her health declined following an illness.

     A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 30, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Larchwood, IA with Fr. Sunny Dominic Officiating. Burial will follow at the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA.

     Due to the St. Mary’s protocol, masks will be required.

    The family requests in lieu of flowers and gifts, please direct memorial masses in her honor to your local church.     

     Marjorie “Marge” was born on November 16, 1937 to Frank and Ann (Daniels) Sehr. She was raised on the family farm in Inwood, IA with her eight other siblings. Then on December 27, 1958 she was united in marriage to Paul McCarty, at Saint Chrysostom’s Catholic Church in Canton, SD. They moved to Larchwood, IA and she worked for many years at Lakeside Dairy in Sioux Falls, SD. Then in the late 1970’s they bought a farm west of Larchwood, IA where they farmed for 20 years. While farming both Marjorie and Paul worked for Grand Labs.

     Then in 1995 after retiring from Grand Labs and selling the farm they moved back into Larchwood. In their free time they enjoyed golfing, camping at Lake Pahoja, and spending time with family and friends. Marge especially loved visiting with her grandkids and great grandkids. During their retirement they would also travel to their home in Mission, TX for the winter months. Marge loved to travel but always missed being home for the holidays with the family. During their travels they enjoyed visiting different churches and holy sites, always getting a picture or bringing home a keepsake.

     She will be remembered as a woman of great faith who loved Jesus. May she rest in peace now that she is in God’s hands.

     Marjorie is survived by her sons, Steven McCarty of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert (Page) McCarty of Henderson, NV; daughter-in-law Jackie (Mrs. Don) McCarty of Larchwood, IA; five grandchildren, Douglas McCarty of Sioux Falls, SD, Sarah (Kyle) Hills of Brandon, SD, Brooklyn McCarty of Larchwood, IA, Dylan (Kelsey) McCarty of Larchwood, IA and Tayler McCarty of Henderson, NV; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Lou) Latendresse, Beresford, SD; brothers, Ron Sehr, Inwood, IA, Roger (Levy) Sehr, Canton, SD, Tom (Rita) Sehr, Inwood, IA, Gary (Kathy) Sehr, Canton, SD, Francis Sehr, Sioux Falls, SD, Dave (Deb) Sehr, Plankinton, SD, Rick (Patty) Sehr, Canton, SD: brothers-in-law, John (Eunice) McCarty of Larchwood, IA, sisters-in-law, Marlene Doherty of Larchwood, IA Judy (Bob) Reese of Luverne, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

    Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; son, Donald (Don) McCarty; brother-in-law’s, Michael McCarty, Tommy Jr. McCarty and sister-in-law’s, Martha McCarty, and Mary Sehr; niece, Barbara McCarty Jones; nephews, Kevin Sehr, Bradley Sehr and Dave Riepperda.
