Marlin Laverman age 62, of Ocheyedan, IA, died unexpectedly from a farming accident on October 12, 2022, in Ocheyedan, IA.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center in Sheldon, IA. Burial will take place at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, October 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center in Sheldon, IA.
Marlin Dean Laverman was born April 9, 1960, in Worthington, MN, the son of Martin and Marlene (Schilling) Laverman. Marlin grew up on the Laverman Farm near Ocheyedan and graduated from Ocheyedan High School. As a young man, Marlin met Mary Rueter and on September 5, 1981, in Lake Park, IA, they were united in marriage and recently they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Marlin and Mary were blessed with three children, Michael, Melissa and Monica. Marlin and Mary made their home in Harris, IA until 1998 when they moved to Ocheyedan. Marlin was a lifelong farmer. He loved his family, farming, traveling and cruising. Marlin had a knack for reaching out to others and making new friendships. He found pleasure in spoiling his wife “Maria”, his children and grandchildren. Marlin committed his life to serve God, and he remained faithful until his end.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Laverman of Ocheyedan, IA; their children, Michael and his wife, Jessica Laverman of Sioux Falls, SD; Melissa and her husband, Shamus McKnight of Omaha, NE and Monica Laverman (Bryce Allen) of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Ella, Leah and James Laverman of Sioux Falls, SD and Alison and Morgan Lapic of Omaha, NE; along with his parents, Martin and Marlene Laverman of Sibley, IA; and two brothers, Steven Laverman of Ocheyedan, IA and Stan Laverman of Iowa City, IA.
Marlin was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Sidney and Stuart.
