Martha Brody Memorial Service Video

     Martha Brody, age 88 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Avera Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Private immediate family memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA with Rev. Steven Swenson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

     A time of public visitation will take place Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to the time of service at 11:00 AM at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.

     We will be adhering to social distancing and masks will be mandatory.

     Martha J. Brody was born August 10, 1931 in Melvin, Iowa to Joe and Gertrude (Van Engen) Baker. She graduated from Ocheyedan High School. On August 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Roger Brody. They lived in Ocheyedan, Iowa before moving to Sibley in 1957.  

     Martha worked as the custodian for the Osceola Courthouse for 11 years.

     Martha and Roger both retired in 2000. They were married for 57 years when Roger passed away in 2008. She enjoyed doing needlepoint on dish towels and crocheting trivet mats, pot holders, and coasters for everyone. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

     Martha is survived by her children, Joanne Meinders, Dorothy and husband Harlan Langstraat, Robert and wife Nancy, Paul and wife Cheri and Brian and wife Dee Dee; 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Baker; sister-in-law, Judy Brody; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; brothers, Frank, Joe, and John Baker; sister, Tena (Baker) Koopman.
