     Marvin Johnson, age 92 of George, Iowa went home to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his home in George, Iowa.

     The memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Monday September 28, 2020 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA, with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, prior to the service, at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.

     Military Rites will be provided by the Jack Sauter Post No. 494 American Legion.

     Visitation will be Sunday, September 27^th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George.

     Marvin Harold Johnson, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Marvin was born on January 27, 1928 to Harm and Edith Bruns Johnson at their home north of George, Iowa. He heard the gospel and believed in Jesus for salvation at a young age. He was baptized by his dad and was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. He attended Liberal #1, a one room schoolhouse, half a mile from their home through the eighth grade. His high school years were spent at George High School where he graduated in 1944. Marvin farmed with his dad until he left to serve in the Army for two years at Fort Riley, Kansas during the Korean War. After he was discharged from the army, Marvin farmed for several years near Sibley before moving to the family farm by George when his dad retired. He farmed with his brothers, raised registered Hereford cattle, and was a master welder. Music was a favorite part of Marvin’s life. From an early age he sang at weddings and funerals. For forty-two years he sang with the Ambassador Quartet sharing the gospel through music. On June 6, 1964 Marvin married Mamie Donovan at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their son, Craig Marvin, was born on Thanksgiving Day in 1965. A little over four years later, Ginger Gwen joined the family. Marvin loved and enjoyed his children. He was particularly pleased when they followed in his footsteps singing gospel music and sharing their faith. Becoming a grandpa was the high point of his life. He loved having his grandchildren around and kept a bicycle for each one in his garage. Many trips were made on the bike trail with Grandpa. Through the years, nine grandchildren were added to the family. Kayleigh, Isabelle, Solomon, Eli, Journey, and Jaymison Johnson and Joshua, Jacob, and Kaitlyn Nobles. Marvin enjoyed his life’s work. He was a good farmer and would never let a weed go to seed. He continued farming part-time until he was eighty. Marvin and Mamie spent twenty-seven years as residents of Bibleville near Alamo, Texas. During that time, he served with the music ministry there and for a time was the chairman of the Bibleville Committee. He loved his God, a good meal, a new car, fox news, and time spent with his wife, family, and friends.

     Those blessed to have shared his life include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Mamie, his children Craig and Angie Johnson, Ginger Nobles, his nine grandchildren, three brothers Donald (Kathy) Johnson, Arlyn Johnson, Eldon (Bea) Johnson, sisters-in-law Eilleen (Tony) Nass, Stella (Merle) Cheek, Shirley Donovan and many nieces, nephews and friends.

     He was proceeded in death by his parents, seven in-laws and many dear friends.

     His greatest desire would be for everyone to believe John 3:16 and receive the gift of eternal life!
