     Marvin Timmer age 82 of Sioux Center, Iowa, formerly of George died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Franken Manor in Sioux Center.

     A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Hope Reformed Church, rural George, Iowa with Rev. Steven DeHaan officiating.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

     In lieu of flowers Timmer family prefers memorials be directed to Hope Haven in Rock Valley, IA.

     Marvin Jake Timmer was born on October 29, 1939, in Rock Rapids, IA, the son of Jake and Ester (Christians) Timmer. He grew up in Rock Rapids and attended Milland No. 5 country school. After country school Marv helped his dad on the farm for several years.

     On September 29, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shirley Dell Snuttjer at the Hope Reformed Church, rural George, IA. To this union five children were born, Marlene, Myron, Marsha, Milton, and Michael. The couple farmed near George, IA, for forty-six years and then moved to Ireton, IA. Marv’s wife Shirley passed away on March 11, 2008.

     Marv was a member of the Hope Reformed Church, rural George. His hobbies included crafting, fixing toy tractors, listening to records, and socializing with people.

     Marvin is survived by his children, Marlene (Jason Johnson) Timmer of Sheldon, IA, Myron Timmer of Le Mars, IA, Marsha (Brent) De Boom of Sioux Center, IA, Milton (Kari) Timmer of Sioux Center, IA, and Michael Timmer of Sheldon, IA; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Lisowski, Amanda Eben, Jake (Abby) Pedersen, Jesse Johnson, Tabby (Jonathan) Castanza, Logan (Regan) Johnson, Paige and Addyson De Boom, Deegan and Mckinley Timmer, and Mia and Mason Timmer; six great grandchildren; one sister, Janelle (Keith) Van Drunen of George, IA; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Timmer; parents, Jake, and Ester Timmer; one sister, Lorenza Kruse; one brother, Art Timmer; and a brother-in-law, James Kruse.
