Mary "Omi" Kramer age 93 formerly of Ellsworth, MN died Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.
Private family viewing and then burial will take place in the church cemetery prior to the service.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, rural George, IA, with Pastor Jesse Sternke officiating.
Kramer family asks, in lieu of flowers all memorials be directed to the Good Samaritan Society, 324 1st Avenue North, George, IA 51237.
Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Mary Arends was born on April 23, 1930, in White, SD, the daughter of John and Mary (Johnson) Arends. Mary and her family later moved to Ellsworth, MN area where she attended country school and public school through the 8th grade.
Mary accepted Christ and was baptized as a young lady, and became a member of the First Baptist Church, rural George, IA.
On August 27, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Herman Kermit Kramer at the First Baptist Church parsonage near George. The couple made their home on a farm near Ellsworth, MN, and after retiring from farming they moved into town in 1990. Mary was a homemaker taking care of her family and was “Mother of the Year” from 1949 to 2023.
Her hobbies and interests included crocheting, making, and selling cabbage patch dolls, rocking babies, making Angel Food cakes, playing Yahtzee, and traveling with her husband and family.
Mary is survived by eleven children, Linda (Dave) Jett of Port St. Lucie, FL, Herman Jr. (Jo) Kramer of Sioux Falls, SD, Ranae (Tom) Boltjes Baltic, SD, Judy Eben of George, IA, Greg (Lesli) Kramer of Adrian, MN, Leora (Mark) Loos of Lincoln, NE, Donna (Doug) DeBoer of Little Rock, IA, Daryl (Mary) Kramer of Adrian, MN, David (Kelly) Kramer of Ellsworth, MN, Darren (Julie) Kramer of Adrian, MN, and Don (Jody) Kramer of Ellsworth, MN; son-in-law, Bob Davis of Blaine, MN; forty-six grandchildren, seventy-seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; three siblings, Sweer Arends of Ellsworth, MN, Hank Arends of Ellsworth, MN, and Hiekalena “Hike” Harms of Sheldon, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Kramer Sr.; parents, John, and Mary Arends; daughter, Marlene Davis; infant son, John Dwaine; son-in-law, Alan Eben; and five siblings, Harry Arends, John Arends, Anna Kleinwolterink, George Arends, and Raymond Arends.
