Mary Schaa, age 78, of George, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital at Sioux Falls, SD.
Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Hope Reformed Church at George.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, April 10, 2023, at Hope Reformed Church at George with Rev. Steve DeHaan, officiating.

Mary (Snuttjer) Schaa was born April 24, 1944, at Titonka, IA the daughter of Rev. Frank and Grace (Jansen) Snuttjer. As a young girl her family moved to Little Rock, IA where her father was the pastor of Salem Reformed Church. She grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1962. During her senior year, she started dating Fred Schaa from Little Rock and they were united in marriage on June 21, 1963, at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. They made their home in Sibley immediately after they were married and for the next ten years they lived in several communities in northwest Iowa before settling on a farm east of Rock Rapids, IA where they farmed for the next 40 plus years. Mary and Fred held various jobs along with farming, she always worked alongside Fred, helping in many ways, a team throughout their life together. In 2012, they built a new home in George and retired from farming. She was a longtime member of Hope Reformed Church in George. She enjoyed being involved in her children's and granchildren’s lives. This past Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2023, she died at the age of seventy-eight, at Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Schaa of George, IA; their two daughters, Kathy (Dean) Oberloh of Rock Rapids, IA and Jodi (Jim) Olson of Custer, SD; five grandchildren, Nick Gorter; Rebecca Harr (Fiancé, Ryan Houg); Alayna Gorter (Fiancé, Kolton Bus); Brittany (Justin) Seivert and Meredith Waterman (Fiancé, Adam Sims); great grandchildren, Dimitri and Anastasia Seivert and Levi Harr and "Baby Houg due in August 2023" one brother; two sisters; mother-in-law, Marvella Schaa and two sisters-in-law and their husbands.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace; father-in-law, Gordon Schaa, one sister, Karen and two brothers-in-law, Bruce and Robert.
