Mary Wick, age 82, of Sibley, IA, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.
Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. There will be a Catholic Daughters rosary service at 5:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley with Father Timothy Hogan as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Sibley.
Mary Catherine Wick was born March 18, 1941, the daughter of George and Helen (Truckenmiller) Wick. She was a lifelong resident of Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School in 1959.
Mary worked at the Osceola County Hospital from 1964 until 2014, first as a nurses aide and then in the housekeeping department. She was a very involved member at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, serving as organist for fifty years, as well as a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Women’s Guild. She was a reliable volunteer for many church and community activities throughout her life. Her steady and quiet presence was appreciated by all those she helped. Mary enjoyed traveling with her good friend Kathy Zylstra on annual trips to nearby attractions as well as across the United States, enjoying the scenic vistas around the country.
She was an avid sports enthusiast who attended many Sibley Ocheyedan Generals events and especially the marching band performances. Her Sundays would include watching her favorite football team the Minnesota Vikings.
Mary moved to Country View Manor in 2018 and remained there until she passed away on November 29, 2023.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Sister Margaret, OSF and Julie Fox (Gary Darling); brothers, Jim (Mary), Tom (Judy), Paul (Nancy), Steve (Kim); sister-in-law, Connie Wick; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen, and her brother, Michael.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Andrews Catholic Church or Osceola Regional Hospital.
