Melissa Ann (Vogl) Moser, age 45, was called to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, August 23, 2024, concluding a nearly 12-year long, courageous battle with cancer. Melissa was born on January 23, 1979, to Gary and Betty (Hitzemann) Vogl and raised in Rock Rapids, IA. She graduated from Central Lyon High School and pursued a degree in travel and tourism at Iowa Lakes Community College earning her associate’s degree. Melissa met her best friend and husband, Jesse, her sophomore year of high school and the two were married on September 18, 1999. The two were inseparable, where one was the other would surely be. Together, they cherished the joy of raising four children: Taylor, Jamie, Martin, and Cole. They made their home on a farm near Inwood, Iowa, where they worked hand in hand, nurturing their crops, pigs, and family.

In 2001, Melissa and Jesse made their Profession of Faith together at the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids, IA, and later transitioning to the First Reformed Church of Inwood, Iowa, in 2007. Melissa's commitment to her faith was evident through years of service as church secretary and her extensive involvement in various church activities, including organizing Bible studies, women’s ministries, soup suppers, freezer meals, and creating emergency housing. Melissa’s role as a stay-at-home mother was her greatest joy, but as her children grew, she found fulfillment working as a preschool aide at West Lyon School for eight years and continued as a substitute teacher. In her free time Melissa enjoyed playing Boggle, riding on the pontoon, patio nights, watching the sunset, and spending time with her husband and family.

Melissa was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer in November 2012. She faced her illness with profound courage, grace, and strength. Her faith grew even stronger, and she instilled in her children the values of love, faith, and compassion through her own exemplary life.

Melissa is survived by her husband of nearly 25 years, Jesse; daughter Taylor Moser [23] (fiancé Cody Dias) of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Jamie Moser [21]; son Martin Moser [19]; son Cole Moser [17]. She is survived by her parents, Gary and Betty Vogl of Rock Rapids, IA; her sister Michelle(Steve) Cox of Holland, IA; her brother Michael "Mike" (Erin) Vogl of Rapid City, SD; many nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Dorothy "Dottie" Hitzemann; father-in-law Mike Moser; grandmother-in-law Martina "Tina" Moser; and grandfather-in-law John Van Veldhuizen. Melissa's legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her.

The Moser family would like to thank everyone for their incredible support, love, and prayers you’ve shown. Your kindness has been a great source of comfort and strength during this journey.
