 Michael “Mike” Buss age 54 of Alvord, IA died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. 

 Public visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA. 

 The family will have a private interment at the Hillside Cemetery of Doon, IA, with Pastor James Sweers officiating. 

 Michael Lynn Buss was born on February 12, 1970, the son of John and Glenda (Hansmann) Buss in Rochester, NY. Mike grew up in Doon, Iowa, attended school in Rock Rapids, and later graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1988.

 In March of 2017, he was united in marriage to Sheila Van Houten in Alvord, IA. To this union a son, Mason Ricky Buss, was born.

 Mike worked at CFE Elevator in Alvord, IA. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and especially spending time with his son Mason playing with his train set and riding their golf cart. He will be greatly missed. 

 Mike is survived by his son, Mason Buss of Canton SD; brother, Eddie Buss of Alvord, IA; sister, Sheila Meyer of Altoona, IA; three nephews, Justin, Nick, and Tyler; one niece, Kristin; and other extended family members. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Glenda Buss; brother, Rick Buss; brother-in-law, Jeff Meyer; maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
