     Shane Rosene, age 63, of George, IA died suddenly on Friday, March 24, 2023, in Sibley, IA. 

     Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. 

     Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, with Reverend Steven DeHaan officiating.

     Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30th at the Poland Township Cemetery, Marathon, IA. 

     In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred by the family.

     Michael Shane Rosene was born on April 27, 1959, in Spencer, IA, the son of Walter and Margaret (Miller) Rosene.  He grew up in Marathon, IA, and later graduated from Laurens-Marathon High School in 1977.  

     On September 9, 1978, he was united in marriage to Joy Bell.  The young couple made their home in Storm Lake, IA.  To this union two daughters were born, Kayla and Alissa.  Shane worked as a CPA in Storm Lake for a number of years. In 1993, Joy and Shane moved to George, IA, where they owned a grocery store for several years.  Most recently Shane was semi-retired and worked as a contract accounting advisor.

    Shane enjoyed going to concerts and watching the Minnesota Vikings on TV. He especially enjoyed spending time with and attending all of his seven grandchildren’s activities. He loved to make people laugh and will always be remembered for his special voices and crazy songs. 

     Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Kayla (BJ) Gerloff of George, IA, and Alissa (Stan) Wissink of Rock Rapids, IA; seven grandchildren, Ellisyn, Quincy, and Finley Gerloff; Oliver and Adeline Harms; and Chloe and Maddox Wissink; two brothers, Terry (Pat) Rosene of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Gary (Karen) Rosene of Storm Lake, IA; mother-in-law, Gloria Bell of Laurens, IA; brother-in-law, Rod (Garthlene) Bell of Laurens, IA; and other extended family. 

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Rosene on December 21, 2016; parents, Walter, and Margaret Rosene; sister, Margo Huegerich; and father-in-law, Roger Bell.
