Milton “Milt” Peters age 72, of Ruthven, IA, formerly of George, IA died Friday, September 20, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, with Pastor Sean Mustian officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery of George.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 26th with family present from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Milton Ray Peters was born on March 16, 1947 in Sibley, IA, the son of Weldon and Phyllis (Krull) Peters. He grew up in George and graduated from George High School. He went on to attain his Master’s in teaching at Wayne State College. Milt worked as a teacher and principal various places throughout his life such as: West Bend, IA; Moville, IA as a shop teacher and coach; Wayne State College as a coach and recruiter; YJB (Yale-Jamaica-Bagley); Remsen-Union; East Monona; Rockwell-Swaledale and Ruthven-Ayrshire as a principal. His hobbies included working on Volkswagens and Dune Buggy cars; and most recently his passion was getting a Freedom Rock in Ruthven, IA where he lived. Milt will be greatly missed.
Milt is survived by his two children, Joe (Jenny) Peters of Carroll, IA and Michelle (Todd) Borton of State Center, IA; one granddaughter, Bailey Borton and one grandson, Mack Borton and one grandson due in November; sister, Lee Nora Holden of La Mirada, CA; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Phyllis Peters; and brother-in-law, Bill Holden.
