Monte Molitor age 71 of Sibley, IA passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley with Reverend Barbara Kopperud officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley, IA, with military honors by George E. Mudge American Legion Post No. 324 and William F. Allard VFW Post No. 7373
Visitation will be Thursday, May 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
Monte Ray Molitor was born on August 16, 1946 in Hartley, IA, the son of Ted and Christina (Johnson) Molitor. He attended school in Sheldon, later got his GED and attended one year of college. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany for a time. After serving his country for eleven years he returned to the Sheldon and Sibley area and drove truck for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Monte loved his family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Monte is survived by seven children: Jerry, David, Jason, Misty, Brian, Katherine (Mark) and their son Shawn and Curtis (fiancé, Tosha) and their children: Leah, Chloe and Monte II; other grandchildren; four siblings: LeAnn Gerken, Pat (Dan) Niichel, David (Beth) Molitor and Carla (Dan) Goergen; sister-in-law, Sheri Molitor; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Junior; granddaughter, Shantel; step-mother, LaVonne Molitor; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Bruns and Roger “Butch” Gerken.
