Nancy Lea Nagel

Rock Rapids, Iowa 

     Nancy Nagel, age 80, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Little Rock, IA, died Friday, August 11, 2023, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, Iowa. 

     A private family service will be held, with burial following at Riverview Cemetery.

Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of services.

     Nancy Lea Nagel was born August 27, 1942, in Madison, South Dakota, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Carol L. (Johnson) Morgan. As a young girl her family moved to Harrisburg, SD and she started country school. Later they moved to Rock Rapids, IA and she attended Central Lyon Community School.

     Nancy was united in marriage to Dixon L. Nagel on August 13, 1960, in Rock Rapids, IA. They lived in Rock Rapids for a short time before moving to Spirit Lake. In 1964 they moved to Money Creek, MN and in 1970 returned to Rock Rapids. During this time, she worked at various places in each of the communities. While in Rock Rapids she worked at different cafes, Lyon Manor Nursing Home, Rock Rapids Repair and most recently K-Products. In 2009 they moved to Little Rock, IA. 

     On May 15, 2012, Nancy’s husband Dixon passed away. Nancy moved to Rock Rapids to an apartment and remained there until March of 2022, when she entered the Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids.

     Through Nancy’s life she enjoyed camping, attending rummage sales, cooking, word search books and coloring in her coloring books.

     She is survived by her five children, Clark (Tammy) Nagel of Rock Rapids, IA, Monday (Dan) Durrence of Rock Rapids, IA, Shannon “Tuzz” (Sheila) Nagel of Doon, IA, Heather (Don) Blom of Inwood, IA and Cory (Rita) Nagel of George, IA; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Hill of Rochester, MN, Linda Sheridan of Lancing, NC and Susan Morgan of Fuquay, NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Carol Morgan; husband of 51 years, Dixon L. Nagel; a grandson, Connor Blom; and two brothers, Dennis and Henry Morgan.
