      Nancy VanBruggen age 71, of Sheldon, IA passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m Monday, June 22, 2020 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA with Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon, IA.

     Visitation will be Sunday, June 21^st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George with family present.  We will be following social distancing guidelines throughout the church and sanctuary.

     Nancy Anne Marie (Stoffel) VanBruggen was born September 23, 1948, at LeMars, IA the daughter of Florian and Irene (Hansen) Stoffel.  Nancy grew up in Sibley where she attended school and graduated from Sibley High School in 1966.  She was united in marriage to Doug Winkel in 1968.  Their first home was in Sheldon, and later they moved to a farm near Ashton and eventually moved into Ashton.  Doug and Nancy moved to Marshall, MN in 1977 and then to Katy, TX in 1979.  After her divorce from Doug, Nancy and her sons moved back to Sibley in 1981.  She met Arthur VanBruggen, and they were united in marriage in November of 1987.  They made their home in Boyden until 2018 when they moved to Sheldon.  She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in George.  Nancy was a loving caregiver, and she devoted herself to taking care of her son, Aaron.  She was very organized and active with many of her favorite pastimes.  She was a Decorah Eagle Moderator, took part in a Bible study in Sheldon, active with the Life Group at Tabernacle, loved gardening, bird watching and doing any type of mind puzzles or games.  Nancy was involved in the Crossroads Prison Ministry as well as ensuring new mothers at her church had meals arranged for them. This past Monday afternoon, June 15, 2020, Nancy died unexpectedly and went home to be with her Lord.

     She is survived by her husband, Arthur VanBruggen of Sheldon; her sons, Brian (Kerry) Winkel of Waterloo, IA; Jed (Karey) Winkel of Spirit Lake, IA; Nathan (Laura) Winkel of Iowa City, IA and Aaron VanBruggen of Sheldon, IA; step children, David (Sarita) of Massillon, OH and Cindy (Nick) Keson of Alta, MI; 12 beloved grandchildren; and two sisters, Becky (Stan) McAndrews of Ames, IA and Jean Vande Garde of Katy, TX.

    Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Irene; her step-father, Walter Leinen and her brother, Nick Stoffel.
