Norma Jean Seivert

     Norma Jean Seivert of Eagan, Minnesota, formerly of Ashton, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Lexington Pointe Senior Living in Eagan.

   Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church in Ashton, IA with Fr. Siby Punnoose, as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Ashton.

     A private family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

     Norma Jean Seivert was born in Ashton, IA, the daughter of Leo A. and Marjorie (Groen) Seivert. She grew up in Ashton and later graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. She continued her education at Mt. Marty in Yankton, SD, where she received her 2-year teaching certificate. She earned a bachelor’s degree and later attended St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, where she received her master’s degree in education.

     Norma taught school throughout Minnesota, and in the earlier years of her career she taught in parochial schools and at a Native American school.

     She had been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton. Norma enjoyed farming and traveling.

     Norma is survived by two siblings, Dan (Linda) Seivert of Spirit Lake, IA and Marilyn Seivert of Apple Valley, MN; nieces and nephews, Patricia (Rhonda) Jackley of Beaman, IA, David (Beth) Jackley of Ames, IA, Dennis Jackley of Worthington, MN, Jeff (Terri) Varela of Eagan, MN, Shari Seivert of Redfield, IA, Deb Lange of Adel, IA, Steve (Shan) Seivert of Ankeny, IA; and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Margaret Seivert Jackley; and two brothers, Jack Seivert and brother in infancy Joseph Seivert; and nephew, Michael Jackley.
