Orma Jean Wingate

Ocheyedan, IA 

     Orma Jean Wingate age 87 of Ocheyedan, IA died August 19, 2021, at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Wednesday August 25^th at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, IA, with Pastor Heather Kraai officiating. Burial will follow at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, August 24^th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with the family present at Jurrens Funeral Home Andringa Chapel in Ocheyedan, IA. 

     Orma Jean Wingate was born on February 23, 1934, near Ocheyedan, IA, the daughter of Frank and Charlotte (Stewart) McGranahan. She attended Ocheyedan schools, and she was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

   On March 25, 1951, Orma Jean was united in marriage to Harold Wingate and to this union two children were born, David and Susan.

     Orma Jean worked at Jay’s in Sanborn, IA for fifteen years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ocheyedan. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to horseshows with her husband and gathering for coffee and conversation with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

     Orma Jean is survived by her children, David Wingate of Spencer, IA, and Susan Stofferan of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Jess Stofferan of Spencer, IA, Wesley Stofferan of Sioux Falls, SD, Dustin (Krista) Wingate of Ocheyedan, IA and Alyssa (Ron) Prins of Sibley, IA; great grandchildren, Alayna Wingate, Cayden Wingate, Dalton Wingate, Tristen Wingate, Koltin Wingate and Devan Breuer; friend, Angie Allen; and many other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parent, Frank and Charlotte McGranahan; husband, Harold Wingate; grandson, Corey Wingate; and her husband Harold’s parents, brothers and sisters.
