Paul Allen age 75, of George, IA, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.
Visitation will be Friday, March 31st with family present from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, with Reverend Ellen Campbell Gardner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery of George, IA.
Paul William Allen was born on November 18, 1947, Fort Dodge, IA, the son of William and Merna (Stuart) Allen. He grew up in Pomeroy, IA and later graduated from Pomeroy Community School in 1966. After graduating he attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA for two years.
On June 7, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Haworth. To this union two children were born, Michele and William.
Paul worked for Iowa Industrial until it closed and then worked for Fisher Hydraulics until his retirement.
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Pomeroy, IA, where he was very active as a member of the church council, MYF leader for fourteen years, and organized the church Christmas Program with Deb and Kent Gray for a number of years. He also was a 4-H leader for sixteen years.
His hobbies included woodworking and gardening.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-four years, Kathleen Allen of George, IA; two children, Michele (Joe) Johnson and Bill (Sandra) Allen all of George, IA; six grandchildren, Jacee and Blake Johnson, Aiden, and Jacob Allen; and two adopted grandchildren, Kevin Krausman and Kelly Moline; four great-grandchildren; four siblings, Dennis (Jan) Allen of Dallas, TX, Peggy Else of Galva, IA, Bruce (Deb) Allen of Houston, TX, and Steve (Eldeen) Allen Polmeroy, IA; sister-in-law, Rosie Allen of Pomeroy, IA; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William, and Merna Allen; brother, David Allen; stepfather, Orin Hanson; and brother-in-law, Arnold Else.
