     Paul Allen Schlotfeldt, 81, of Alvord, IA died Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA. 

     A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 9th at Ransom Church in Rock Rapids, IA.  Burial will follow at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Alvord. A lunch will be held following the graveside service at the Alvord Community Center. 

     Visitation will be on Friday, March 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Paul Allen Schlotfeldt was born August 5th, 1942, to Henry and Elsie (Peters) Schlotfeldt in Rock Rapids, IA. He was raised in Alvord, IA, and graduated from West Lyon High School, after attending classes in Alvord.

     On April 4th, 1970, Paul married Jean Thielvoldt at Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord, IA. They resided in Alvord together until Paul moved into Lyon Specialty Care in November 2023. Early in their marriage, Paul lugged beef for IBP in Luverne, MN. Afterward, Paul and Jean owned and operated P&J’s eating and drinking establishment in Alvord, IA. Paul went on to work for Hayes Albain/Kooimas/TCS industries in Rock Valley, IA.

     Paul was a member of the Alvord volunteer fire department for 32 years. He loved cooking, dancing, gardening, ice fishing, and chatting with practically anyone he came in contact with. In his later years, he enjoyed coloring and filled many coloring books. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved chatting with them and showing them his latest coloring pages.

     Paul is survived by his wife Jean. Three daughters, Tami (Michael) Escobar of Brewster, NY, Jessica (Jon) Peterson of Alvord, IA, and Dana (Jesse) Rose of Alvord, IA. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Siblings Jim Schlotfeldt, Loren (Mayumi) Schlotfeldt, Larry (Marilyn) Schlotfeldt, Glen Schlotfeldt (Tom Neale), Judy Yarian, and sisters-in-law, Delories and Bernadine Schlotfeldt.

      He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elsie; brothers Gale, Dale, and Roger; and baby sister Carol.
