      Pete B Kracht age 89 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Saturday, May 9, 2020  at his home.

     Private Family Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, Iowa.  Please watch this website for a Live Stream Link to view the funeral service.  Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids, Iowa.  The family invites those who would like to join at the cemetery to meet out at the cemetery at approximately 2:30 PM.

     Visitation will be Monday, May 11th without family present from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.  We will be following the 10 person gathering limit at that time.

     In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial directed to Hospice.

     Pete Kracht was born on March 9,1931 to Ben and Jennie (Boeve) Kracht in Rock Rapids, Iowa.  He grew up on various farms near Rock Rapids but lived the majority of his life on the family farm east of town.  He attended rural schools in Lyon County.  In 1947 Pete listened to and accepted the gospel of Christ.

     Pete was united in marriage to Ann Veldkamp on January 30, 1951 in Canton, South Dakota.  They made their home and raised their  children on the family farm.  Pete and Ann enjoyed fifty-three years together.  Ann passed away on May 9, 2004.

    Pete was united in marriage to Bernice Forsberg on January 8, 2008 in Estherville, Iowa.  They spent their life together living in Pete’s home East of Rock Rapids. 

     Pete was a farmer his entire life.  After retiring, he enjoyed helping his boys with the farming operation, especially planting and harvest.  He enjoyed music and loved singing hymns.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 12 years, Bernice; two sons, Rod and Audrey (Penning) Kracht of Rock Rapids, IA, and Jerry and Marty (Leuthold) Kracht of Rock Rapids, IA; step children, Anita Forsberg of Arkansas, Leroy and Jenette Forsberg of Estherville, IA, Mary and Chris Craven of Rochester, MN, Brenda and Duane Grotz of York, NE, Loren and Karen Forsberg of Dunell, MN; five grandchildren, Becky (Will) Scholze of Humbird, WI, Cherie Kracht of Sioux Falls, SD,  Nate Kracht of Rock Rapids, IA, Stacey Kracht of Des Moines, IA, Shelley (Cody) Huizenga of Carlisle, IA; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Garrett, Harper, and Lyla; thirteen step grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Albertha Flatberg of Sioux Falls, SD, Henrietta (Lowell) Wirtjes of Brandon, SD, brother-in-law, Don (Joan) Veldkamp of Springfield, MO; along with many extended relatives.

     Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann; daughter, Linda; brothers, Bert and Dick; sister, Jeanette Braasch; an infant brother; and a step-grandchild, Tyler.
