Phil Mogler age 99, of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester with the family present.
Philip Dietrich Mogler was born south of Lester on October 13, 1921, to Henry and Pauline (Dietrich) Mogler. He attended Lester High School and graduated in 1940.
Shortly after graduating, Phil started Mogler Farm Industries. Over the years his business provided services in electrical, heating, plumbing, kitchen design, pole barn and silo sales, automatic livestock feeding, animal waste handling, and DTN dish communication.
On July 3, 1949, Phil was baptized at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. On October 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lydia Feucht, daughter of Carl and Pauline (Knobloch) Feucht of Larchwood, IA. They lived in Lester, IA and were blessed with five daughters: Janice (DeWayne) Nohl of Hancock, MN; Joyce (Bernie) Messner of Hancock, MN; Jeryl (Doug) Grimm of Hiawatha, KS; June (Roger) Schulz of Burlington, IA; and Jaleen Mogler of Sabetha, KS. Because of Jaleen's condition, Phil was one of the originators of the Home for the Handicapped (now known as Apostolic Christian LifePoints) facility in Morton, IL and served on the Board there for 18 years.
Phil's wife Lydia passed away February 19, 1991. Phil was then united in marriage October 11, 1992, to Donna Marie Hartzler of Livonia, MI, daughter of Reuben & Velma (Winkler) Hartzler of Rittman, Ohio. They enjoyed traveling south in the winter and visiting family.
After having lived 85 years in the Lester area, Phil and Donna moved to Rock Rapids. He passed away on June 2, 2021 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids at the age of 99.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, five daughters, twenty-nine grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great, grandchild. Also surviving is his brother, Howard (Lillian) Mogler; sister, Florence Knoblock; brother-in-law, Frank Moser; in-laws, Marjorie Feucht, Eleanor (Gene) Pamer, Carolyn Hartzler, Vince (Jane) Hartzler, Merle (Bonnie) Hartzler, Lucille Blough and many nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Pauline Mogler, his first wife Lydia, five sisters, Dorothy Kellenberger, Melva Messner, Marjorie Mogler, Leona Moser and Verna Moser; three grandchildren, Nathan, Ben, and Luke Messner; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Wettstein and Jackson Grimm.
