Ramona Dass

Sibley, IA

     Ramona Dass, age 95 of Sibley, Iowa, died Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Country View Manor in Sibley.

     Visitation with the family present will take place from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.  

     A private family service will take place at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with LeRoy Eggink officiating.

     Burial will take place, Monday, June 10th at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

Ramona Mary Schuck Dass was born on January 3, 1929, near Little Rock, Iowa to Art and Jessie (Stahl) Schuck.  She graduated high school from Ocheyedan, Iowa in 1948.  

     On March 13, 1949, she married Carroll Dass in Worthington, Minnesota.  They were married 72 years when Carroll passed away.  They both loved to do Polka dancing at the Hartley Danceland.  

     They were blessed with four children: Diane (Pete) Janssen of Sibley, Iowa, Lynette (Steve) Farnsworth of Emmetsburg, IA, Kenny (Machelle) Dass of South Sioux City, NE, and Kevin (Cheryl) Dass of Kansas City, MO.

     Ramona loved to bake and cook, and her favorites to make were brownies, potato salad, and rice pudding.  

     She was also an avid housekeeper and always had things in perfect shape when her kids came home from school.

     Ramona worked at Ben Franklin store in Hartley, Iowa.  Carroll and Ramona were also part owners of the True Value Hardware store in Hartley for many years.  After retiring they moved to Sibley where she worked part-time at Sibley-Ocheyedan elementary school as a food server.

     Ramona loved being a grandma to her 9 grandchildren: Laurie, Stephanie, Randy, Nathan, Shane, Kacie, Austin, Dillon, and Kyle.  She also has 11 great grandchildren.  They call her Grandma Mona!  She also loved gardening and tending to her flowers.

     Ramona was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley.  

     She entered Country View Manor Nursing Home in Sibley in January of 2017, due to declining health.  Her favorite saying to the staff was “Yippy Skippy!”  She passed away June 6, 2024, at Country View Manor.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Donna Kaiser, Janice Lamfers, Lana Jacobsma, and her husband Carroll in January 2022.

     She is survived by her 4 children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends. 

     She will be missed dearly.
