Richard Lloyd Agar, age 91 of Sibley, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 11th at the United Methodist Church of Sibley, with Rev. Timothy Nappe officiating. Buril will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.

Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Richard Lloyd Agar was born August 12, 1933, in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Edward Thomas and Ruth Ella (Bumgardner) Agar. He was raised on a family farm and attended country school. He graduated from Sibley High School in 1954. During his high school years, he earned All State Honors in Football. After his education he worked for a short time on the family farm with his father.

Richard entered the U.S. Army on March 24, 1954, and was blessed to serve alongside his twin brother, in Japan. He was honorably discharged on February 23, 1956. He returned to Sibley and continued to help his father with the family farm.

Richard was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Brown on June 12, 1960, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake, IA. Richard and Marge lived on a farm north of Sibley until 1979. They lived in various communities for the next ten years until returning to Sibley in 1989.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sibley. Together Richard and Marge enjoyed traveling the countryside in their car and family gatherings at Lake Okoboji. He also enjoyed watching all sports, especially football, and loved 1940’s and 1950’s musicals. He was an avid movie watcher and an ice cream addict.

Richard’s wife, Marjorie died after a brief illness with Cancer. Richard remained living in Sibley and enjoyed several trips to Florida and Hawaii.

He is survived by his daughter. Beth Lindberg of Sibley, IA; a twin brother, Robert Agar; granddaughter, Lora Lindberg; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth Agar; his wife of 38 years, Marjorie Agar; son, Brian Agar; brother, Milton; two sisters-in-law, Sharon and Deanna Agar.
