Richard “Dick” Schrick age 76 of Richfield, MN, formerly of George, IA died Wednesday June 5, 2019 at Southview Acres Health Care Center in Saint Paul, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13th at the First Baptist Church rural George, IA, with Reverend Dr. Mike Hagan officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery of George, IA, with military honors by the Jack Sauter American Legion Post No. 404.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Life celebration will be Thursday June 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richfield Minnesota V.F.W.
Richard Lee Schrick was born on June 26, 1942 in Sibley, IA, the son of Richard George and Gertrude Lucille (Harms) Schrick. He grew up in George, IA and later graduated from George High School. After graduation he received a two-year degree at NEI technical college. Dick was then drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966.
On August 15th, 1964 Dick was united in marriage to Ruth Ann (Sudenga) in George, IA. To this union three children were born, David Ray, Richard Alan and Ryan Lee.
Dick was proud to have worked for the same company for thirty-two years even though it changed names from Northwestern Bell, AT & T and then Qwest.
His hobbies included farming, hunting, fishing, coaching his children in sports and volunteering in the community.
Dick is survived by his three children: David Schrick of Bloomington, MN, Richard (Lisa) Schrick of Lakeville, MN and Ryan (Melissa) Schrick of Lakeville, MN and eight grandchildren; four siblings: Ben (Roxanne) Schrick of Lafayette, LA, Dale Schrick of Hartford, SD, Dennis (Gracia) Schrick of George, IA and Diane Schrick of Northfield, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gertrude Schrick; one sister, Martha Schrick and grandson, Bennett Schrick.
