Robert “Bob” L. Kruger age 92 of Sibley, IA died Friday, December 28, 2018 at his home in Sibley.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3rd at First Reformed Church in Sibley with Rev. Luke Schouten, officiating.
Prayer service for family and friends will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at the First Reformed Church in Sibley. Inurnment will follow the prayer service in Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2nd from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
Robert “Bob” Lee Kruger was born May 7, 1926, on a farm near Allendorf, IA, the son of Hank and Clara (Olthoff) Kruger. He attended country school in the Allendorf and Ocheyedan area. On January 7, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Betty Jean Hindt at the Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. The couple lived in Ocheyedan, Wilmont, MN, Sibley, IA, Little Rock, IA and moved back to Sibley in 1984. Prior to moving back to Sibley, Bob farmed and raised livestock, this was something he enjoyed very much. While living in Sibley he worked for Chase Bag, was the caretaker of Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley and worked at Sudenga Industries until his retirement. Bob was a member of First Reformed Church in Sibley. His passions included first most farming, looking at old tractor magazines, word search, reading and woodworking. He cherished spending time with his family, having coffee and conversation, if you played any games with him, he was a stickler for anyone who tried to cheat. Bob died this past Friday afternoon, December 28, 2018 at the age of ninety-two.
He was survived by his five children, Elaine Holmquist of Heron Lake, MN; Joyce (George) Bruder of Humboldt, IA; Anita Hoting of Sibley, IA; Robert L. (Joan) Kruger of Columbus, NE, and Brenda (Will) Kroontje of Ashton, IA; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Eben of Sibley, IA; and a sister-in-law, Jane Albers of Rock Rapids, IA; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Karen Harders; parents, Hank and Clara; brother, Ronald Kruger and brother, Marvin Albers.
