Robert "Bob" Niebruegge

Windom, Minnesota & George, Iowa 

     Robert "Bob" Niebruegge age 88, of Windom, Minnesota formerly of George, Iowa, died Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, Minnesota. 

     Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George for one hour prior to services.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA with Rev. Steve De Haan, officiating.  Burial will follow at the Hope Reformed Cemetery at George, IA.

     Robert “Bob” Gene Niebruegge was born in Hull, IA on February 4, 1935, the son of Robert and Anna (Foken) Niebruegge.  Bob grew up in Hull until he was 10 years old and then his family moved to Sheldon in 1945.  He graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1954.  After high school he started working for a local dairy as a delivery person.  In 1957 he moved with his parents to George where his father took a pastorship and Bob started hauling bulk gas.  On September 22, 1959, he was married to Mavis Goldhorn at Hope Reformed Church in George.  They made their home in George and has two children, Kevin in 1961 and Colette in 1965.  Twenty-two years later in 1981, they ended their marriage and Bob moved to Watertown.  He started working for McFleeg Feeds in Watertown, SD where he continued to work until he was 79 years old.  He retired from McFleeg’s due to health problems and then moved to Windom to be closer to his daughter, Colette.  As his health deteriorated, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Windom where he died this past Thursday morning, June 29, 2023, at the age of eighty-eight.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, having coffee with his friends, fishing and if you knew Bob, he simply enjoyed being social and a good conversation.

     He is survived by his daughter, Colette and her husband, Greg Smith of Windom, MN; granddaughter, Harlie and her husband Dan Fasching of Hutchinson, MN; great granddaughter, Brylie Fasching of Hutchingson, MN and his twin brother, Ronald (Marie) Niebruegge of Spirit Lake, MN.

     Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna; his son, Kevin; brother, Leander (age 9) and sister and brother-in-law, Leota (Lee) Treinen.
