     Robert E. Groen, age 85 of Sibley, IA died Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Bickford Senior Living in Sioux City, IA.

     Private family service will be held at Jurrens Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

     Public visitation will be Thursday, October 22^nd from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. The Groen family will not be present. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Bickford Senior Living of Sioux City, IA.

     Robert Edward Groen was born September 6, 1935 in Orange City, IA, the son of Kenneth and Anna Mae (Roghair) Groen. He graduated from Orange City High School. After graduation he worked for Orange City Creamery.

     Robert was united in marriage to Arlyce Van Otterloo on August 20, 1954. They moved to Sibley in 1956, where he worked at AMPI until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. On February 21, 2000 Robert’s wife of 46 years, died. Robert continued staying active with family and community activities. In 2019 Robert moved to Bickford Assisted Living in Sioux City, where he remained until his death, this past Saturday, October 17, 2020.

     Left to cherish his memory are his children, Donna (Jarold) Krogman of Spencer, IA, Robert (Janice) Groen, Pat (Elroy) Jansma, both of Sibley, IA, Ron (Yvonne) Groen of Stafford, VA and Roger (Danielle) Groen of Fort Calhoun, NE; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anna Mae Groen; his wife, Arlyce Groen; two grandchildren, Lora Krogman and Jennifer Jansma; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
