Robert "Bob" Huls

     Robert “Bob” Huls age 80 of Sibley, IA died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.

     Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25^th  at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm and Pastor Maggie Gisch officiating.

     A private family burial will be at Holman Township Cemetery, in Sibley prior to the memorial service.

     Visitation will be Monday, September 24^th  from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Robert Harold Huls was born February 23, 1938 at the family farm east of Sibley, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Evelyn (Cooper) Huls.  He attended East Holman Township country school. 

     He was united in marriage to Janet Uit deFlesch on September 3, 1965 at First Baptist Church in Worthington, MN.  They made their home on a farm near Fulda, MN until 1977, when they moved to the home farm, east of Sibley, IA.  They remained there until 2002, when they moved to Sibley.  Bob continued farming with his son, Dan until his health declined.

     In 2011, the Huls Family Farm became a Century Farm.  He enjoyed attending annual Threshing Bees, Antique Tractor Pulls, farm sales, and camping.  Bob and Janet enjoyed many trips with family and friends, especially with the Voss family.  He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them on the farm and attending their activities.

     He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Huls of Sibley, IA; three children, Maribeth Sue (husband, Mike) Appeldorn of Sibley, IA, Daniel (wife, Jaime) Huls of Sibley, IA and Jennifer Rene (husband Jim) Watts of Milford, IA; grandchildren, Mitchell Jon Van Der Sloot, Morgan Sue Appeldorn, Marshall Ray Appeldorn, Elouise Janet Huls, and Hannah Deborah Huls; a sister, Phyllis (husband, Ronald) Huisinga of Sibley, IA; three nieces, Rhonda (husband, David) Baish, Dawn (husband, Andrew) Butler and Amy (husband, Elliott) Smith; and mother-in-law, Ada Uit de Flesch.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Evelyn; brother, Ronald Huls; maternal grandparents, Annie and Henry Huls; paternal grandparents, Earl and Maude Cooper; father-in-law, Evert Uit de Flesch; and many relatives and friends.
