Robert C. Tiedeman, age 75 of Sibley, Iowa died Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 14, 2025, at First Reformed Church with Revered Brian Carpenter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will take place Thursday, March 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Robert Clayton Tiedeman was born July 26, 1949, in Hull, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Winnifred (Westra) Tiedeman. He attended Boyden Hull Community School and graduated in 1967. He continued his education at N.I.T.C. in Sheldon, IA, where he graduated from the first Power Lineman class offered. He then began working for Osceola Electric Cooperative briefly before entering the United States Army on February 28, 1969. He served in Vietnam and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. He was honorably discharged on October 1, 1970, and returned home.

Robert married Gladys Faye De Kam on March 30, 1971, in Rock Valley, IA. They were blessed with three wonderful children. Robert worked for Osceola Electric Cooperative for 42 ½ years before he retired. After retirement he drove truck for Wes Schutte.

Robert was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sibley, where he served several terms as Elder and Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He was known for his immaculate lawn and detailed cars. He enjoyed making new acquaintances and visiting with them.

He is survived by three children; Mike Tiedeman of Ireton, IA , Teresa (Chris) Hurlburt of Sibley, IA and Kim (John) Mc Dougall of Melvin, IA; seven grandchildren: Cody (Kristen) Hurlburt, Paige (Kyle) Blomgren, Alex Mc Dougall, Ashley Tiedeman, Ross Tiedeman, Matthew Mc Dougall and Chantel Tiedeman; three great grandchildren, Braelyn, Adelyn and Caelyn Hurlburt and baby boy Blomgren, due in June of 2025; two sisters, Char (Greg) Haubrich of Rock Valley, IA and Marge (Alan) Boughey of Sioux Center, IA; sister-in-law, Alvina Letcher; and several other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Winnifred Tiedeman; Gladys Tiedeman; and brother, Denny Tiedeman.
