Roger Lopau

     Roger Lopau age 85, of Sibley, IA died Sunday January 13, 2019 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.

     A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 18^th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, with Rev. Barbara Kopperud officiating.

     Inurnment will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, January 18^th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Roger was born on August 21, 1933 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Henry and Minnie (Kruger) Lopau. He was raised on a family farm north of Sibley and attended Wilson Township School. He graduated from Sibley High School and began working for Osceola County Assessor’s Office. He then entered the U.S. Army in December of 1954 and was honorably discharged in December of 1956. He returned to Sibley and began working at Armour & Company Packing Plant in Worthington, MN. After many years of employment Roger retired. He spent the next several years doing odd jobs, such as painting and light construction.

     Roger was an accomplished bowler. He participated in bowling league and play in many area bowling tournaments. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and oil painting. He also enjoyed taking his daily drives around town and took many pictures from the area.

     He entered Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley on February 23, 2017 and remained there until this past Sunday, January 13, 2019. He is survived by sisters, Violet (Leon) Voss of Lakefield, MN, and Marcella (Lester) Renken of Sibley, IA; brother Robert Lopau of George, IA; and host of nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Minnie Lopau; two brothers, Marvin Lopau and Byron Lopau,; two sisters, Delores Hulzebos and Bernice Nachtigal; and infant brother and sister, Melvin and Rosemary Lopau; two brothers-in-law, Doedo Hulzebos and Roger Nachtigal; and three sisters-in-law, Diann Lopau, Evelyn Lopau, and Alvina (Brower) Lopau.
