Rolland "Rollie" Gene Monkemeier

     Rolland “Rollie” Monkemeier age 71 of Sibley, Iowa died Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Terry Simm officiating.  Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

  Visitation will be Monday, March 2^nd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ATLAS of Osceola County.

     Rolland Gene Monkemeier was born July 22, 1948 to Raymond and Marie (Trei) Monkemeier in Goewey Township. Rollie and his two sisters grew up on a farm outside of Melvin. He attended Melvin school and graduated from Sibley High School in 1967.

     Rollie and the love of his life Clara spent 45 years together. They lived in Sibley, Iowa where they enjoyed fishing, taking rides in the country, and driving to surrounding towns finding new places to eat out. In the past, Rollie worked for Bosma Poultry, drove feed truck, and worked for the City of Sibley for over 30 years. Rollie enjoyed riding his golfcart, watching and participating in parades, riding around town on his moped, and visiting with everyone, young or old. Rollie and Clara would have birthday parties and invite many friends. He was a collector of many toy cars and trucks, and especially loved anything John Deere. Everyone in town knew who Rollie was. He loved to help people and will be remembered for having a big heart.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his sister Marlene Frey of Spencer, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends who he considered family.

   He was preceded in death by his love and companion, Clara Dagel; his parents, Raymond and Marie; and his sister, Leila Johnson.
