Ronald James Gerloff

     Ronald J. Gerloff age 73 of Little Rock, Iowa died Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Private family burial will take place prior to the service on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Pleasant View Cemetery.

     A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday October 20th at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, with Rev. Barry Wynveen officiating.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19^th 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.

     The Gerloff family is requesting for everyone to wear a mask during the visitation and memorial service.

       Ronald James Gerloff was born April 27, 1948, in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Skiver) Gerloff. He grew up on a family farm south of Little Rock. He attended Little Rock High School and graduated in 1966. Ronald was united in marriage to Virginia Schubert on September 2, 1966, at her parents’ home in Little Rock. After their wedding, Ron and Virginia moved to the Groton and Webster, SD area where he worked for Northwestern Bell.  When Ron was relocated back to Little Rock, he took over the family farm. He expanded the farming to include dairy cows and ran Little G Dairy until a farm sale in the early 80’s. After the farm sale, Ron worked at several manufacturing jobs, including S-R Manufacturing in Rock Rapids and Pella Corporation in Sioux Center, along with custom feeding hogs on the farm. A car accident in 2010 forced Ron into retirement and he began to do “hobby jobs” for his family and ran deliveries for Eastern Iowa AI.

     He enjoyed camping with family and following his grandchildren’s activities.  He also enjoyed doing projects for his family and fixing things around the house.  Besides his family, Ron's loves were Blue Bunny Ice Cream, popcorn and Diet Dr. Pepper.

     He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Gerloff of Little Rock, IA; five children, son, Tadd (Carla) Gerloff, of Rock Rapids, IA, and their children, Jeremy Gerloff of Sioux Falls, SD, Jared Gerloff (special friend, Taylor Simon) of Steen, MN and Devin Gerloff (special friend, Kaily Fox) of George, IA, daughter, Charon (Pat) Doyscher and their children, Tyler and Erin, of Round Lake, MN, son, Christopher (Katie) Gerloff and their children, Colten, Caleb, Kayla and Kali of Le Mars, IA, son, Bradley (Kayla) Gerloff and their children, Ellisyn, Quincy and Finley, all of George, IA and daughter, Mindy (John) Gerloff-Saxton and their child, Philip of  Portland, OR; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jackie Terpstra of Minnetonka, MN and Elizabeth Husman of Robbinsdale, MN; two brothers, Roger Gerloff of Golden Valley, MN and Randall Gerloff of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth Gerloff; and an infant brother, Dennis Gerloff; parents-in-law, William and Dorothy Schubert; and two brothers-in-law, Curtis Husman and Marvin Terpstra.
