Ruth Nester

     Ruth Nester age 90 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Friday, April 11, 2025 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Sunday April 13th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall.

     Ruth Marie Nester was born May 30, 1934, at the Nester family farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm and Lydia (Knobloch) Nester. She was raised there and attended Cleveland Township #1 School. She graduated from 8th grade in 1947 and later received her high school diploma from a home study course.

     She helped her parents at home on the family farm until they moved into Rock Rapids in 1966. She then began her work as an optometric assistant and office manager for Dr. Roetman. In 1992 she began her career in financial planning and insurance sales. She retired and sold her business in 2012.

     Ruth had a calm, quiet nature and enjoyed her family and church. In 1989, Ruth was baptized into the Lester Apostolic Christian Church at the age of 54.

     Due to declining health, Ruth moved to Premier Estates and resided there until 2023. She then moved to Lyon Specialty Care, where she passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025.

     She is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Nester; four nieces, Marie (Paul) Sauder of Princeville, IL, Anita (Byron) Fehr of West Bend, IA, Charlotte (Phil) Waldbeser of Elgin, IA, Lori (Seth) Miller of Sabetha, KS; one nephew, Willis (JoAnn) Nester of Rock Rapids, IA; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Lydia Nester; step-mother, Elizabeth (Metzger) Nester; brother, Eugene Nester; and two infant sisters.
