     Sandra Bennett age 69 of Beaver Creek, MN died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

 

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN with Rev. Laura Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Beaver Creek, MN.

 

     A time of visitation with family present will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills on Monday.

 

     Due to the MN mandate, masks will be required.

     Sandra Kay Bennett was born on January 9, 1951 to Charles and Eleanor (Larson) Nelson in Valley Springs, SD. She grew up in Hills, MN and attended school at Hills-Beaver Creek. On November 22, 1969, she was united in marriage to Steven Bennett at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN. The couple lived their entire married life of over 50years, north of Beaver Creek, MN on the Bennett family Farm. Their marriage was blessed with 4 sons: Jeffrey, Scott, Brian, and Curtis. Sandra was a stay at home mom and farm wife until 1988 when she entered the work force at Linton’s in Sioux Falls, SD and then Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, MN. In January of 1994, she joined the kitchen staff at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne where she worked for over 21 years until she retired in November of 2015. On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Sandy died at Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 14 days.

     Sandy’s family was her world. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s music and sporting events. She was an excellent cook that could feed hundreds, and many will never know how to make some of her best as she never used a recipe. She enjoyed gardening and canning, watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings (purple was her favorite color) and sprint car races.   Some of her favorite memories were watching Steve and the boys play fastpitch softball and her annual 4-wheeling trips with the “Ruff Riders”

     Those left to cherish Sandy’s memory are her husband, Steve, sons, Scott of Beaver Creek; Brian (Amie) of Beaver Creek; Curt (Mandy) of Beaver Creek; brothers, Tom (Meg) Nelson of Luverne; Mike (Deb) Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Jean (Nick) Wysong of Hills; Joan (Wade) Johnson of Hills; grandchildren, Sierra, Tyler, Alexis, Dalton (Sara), Tryce, Peyton and Holden, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eleanor Nelson; sister, Debra Nelson; infant son, Jeffrey; in laws, Darrell and E. Marie Bennett; sisters in law; Gail Abraham and Carol Bennett.
