Sandy Kumba

      Sandy Kumba, age 61, of Rock Rapids passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 29, 2021 at the Rock Rapids Health Care Centre. No local Services are planned at this time.

     Sandy Kay Kumba was born on October 21, 1960 to her loving parents Monte and Alice (Styke) Bahnson. Sandy attended high school in Spirit Lake, Iowa where she made a lifetime of friends. Later Sandy moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she made fond memories with her beloved grandma, Pearl and worked at Hutch where she made cherished friendships. At this time, Sandy met Joe Kumba and the two would later be united in marriage on June 5, 1993 and move to Rock Rapids, IA. To this union, two children were born namely, Kendall Kumba and Jacob Kumba.

     Sandy was always thrilled to gain knowledge through reading and always had a book recommendation. A few of Sandy's favorite things were antiques, country music, repurposed crafts and most of all - her children. Sandy will always be remembered as kind and generous by those that loved her. 

     Sandy is survived by her daughter, Kendall Kumba, Rock Rapids, IA; son, Jacob Kumba, Rock Rapids, IA; mother, Alice Bahnson, Sioux Falls, SD;  and siblings, Jodie Schiele, Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (Sheila) Bahnson, Sioux Falls, SD, Amy (Mike) Kokenge, Tea, SD.

     Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kumba; father, Monte Bahnson; brother, Dean Bahnson; grandparents, Marvin and Arvilla Bahnson and Johannas and Pearl Styke; mother-in-law, Betty Kumba and father-in-law, Jake Kumba.
