Scott Lens

 Rock Rapids, IA

     Scott Anthony Lens age 58 of Rock Rapids, IA passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his home in Rock Rapids.

     A memorial visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.  A prayer service will follow the visitation service, at 6:00 PM. 

     Scott was born March 8, 1961 in Rock Rapids, Iowa.  He grew up in Rock Rapids and attended Central Lyon school. He graduated high school in 1980. 

    On July 11, 1987 Scott was united in marriage to Sandra Gerritsen in Sioux City, Iowa.  Scott was also blessed with a stepson, Tyler. The year following marriage, their daughter Courtney was born.  The family moved from Sioux City to Sioux Falls until finally settling back down in Rock Rapids.  Upon divorcing, Scott remained in Rock Rapids as it was always known as home to him.

     In the past, Scott held various jobs that mostly all revolved around auto body. He was most known for his body shop, East Side Auto Body. He was so talented with repairing and painting anything placed in front of him. Other employers that Scott enjoyed working for include Arrow Manufacturing and his most recent employer, Sudenga Industries where he worked as a machinist. 

     Scott really enjoyed working with anything that had a motor.  He liked any and all racing especially go-karts, building various craft projects that his daughter dreamed up, hanging out in his garage working on his racing sled and Mustangs, watching old-time television shows, and knowing history.  Most of all Scott enjoyed every moment spent with his grandsons.  The smiles that happened when they spoke or were together is exactly what happiness is supposed to look like. He will be remembered as one of the most talented men his family has ever known. 

     Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Courtney Lens of Harrisburg, SD; his grandsons, Trigg and Dravlin; his significant other, Carrie Gutierrez, and his four siblings and mother.

     He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Lens; and his grandparents.
